2010 AUDI A1 1.4 TFSI - Irregular idle and error P2178
Good morning,
Today we present the following case reported by our colleague MOTOR SYSTEM in the province of Novara.
2010 AUDI A1 1.4 TFSI presenting irregular idling with error
P2178-00 mixture too greasy
Analysing the exhaust gases showed that the CO value at idle was about 0.7, while accelerating it immediately rose to 2.5 / 3.
Checking the oil dipstick, the level was found to be above max and smelling of petrol. By disconnecting the oil vapour line from the intake, the engine was running smoothly again, as were the CO values.
SOLUTION: the high-pressure fuel pump was pumping petrol into the oil and the vapours were enriching the mixture.
After replacing the pump, the anomaly was resolved.
