The ASR system is very useful to prevent loss of grip during traction, for example when accelerating too fast in corners, on wet, icy or snowy surfaces, wheel spin is prevented. This\u00a0<\/span>However, it also occurs under special conditions, for example when driving uphill with very low grip, and becomes a major problem: when it intervenes automatically, the ASR system immediately removes power from the engine until the vehicle comes to a standstill.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Many cars therefore have a button on board to deactivate the ASR in order to remedy the inconvenience. <\/span>When the need is over, the ASR must be switched back on because it is not recommended to keep it disabled during normal driving.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

On the Prius this opportunity is not there, or rather it is there but hidden from the driver.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This process must be performed within a maximum of 60 seconds, otherwise deactivation does not take place:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

1. If the car is switched on, switch it off and pull the parking brake (pedal).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2.Press the 'Power' button twice without keeping the brake pedal activated.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

3.Press and release the accelerator pedal twice until the end of the stroke.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

4.Press the brake pedal and put the gearbox in N (neutral)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

5.Press and release the accelerator pedal twice until the end of the stroke.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

6.Press the brake pedal and put the gearbox in P (park).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

7.Press and release the accelerator pedal twice more to the end.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Now \"MAINTENANCE MODE\" will appear on the dashboard display and the yellow ASR \/ ESP system light will remain on.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

8.Depress the brake pedal and press the 'Power' button (green light on the button).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This is how the antiskid system is maintained. This m<\/span>ome is very useful for checking for leaks after an oil or coolant change.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

From this point on, you have to dose the accelerator in the most appropriate way.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
