The course in question lasts 16 hours, includes a questionnaire and a simulation of securing a hybrid and/or electric car where the location permits. The PES PAV qualification is awarded following completion of the course and passing the questionnaire with at least 80% of correct answers. The course programme, in terms of content, and the questionnaire were provided by the Italian Electrotechnical Committee - the CEI - the body that physically issues the qualification certificate.

In response to these reports concerning the EIP, we reproduce below an official communication issued by Engineer Raffele Greco of the CEI:

"The acronym PEI is not in the standards, nor in DL 81/08, but was introduced by market players. We know it but do not use it, precisely because it is not official.

It refers to suitability for working under voltage.

The CEI 11-27 course for the PES-PAV qualification provides two possibilities: for PES and PAV not fit for live working (level 1 A) or fit for live working (level 1 A and level 2 A).

In the first case the course lasts at least 10 hours + test (one and a half days), in the second case it lasts at least 14 hours + test (two days).

Requests for 1 A-only courses are insignificant, as a number, one in 100 perhaps, so our default courses are 1 A and 2 A, as stated in the programme on our poster, and these levels correspond to the slides you also use.

In conclusion: the two-day theoretical courses that you do and for which we provide you with certificates are valid for levels 1 A and 2 A, i.e. for PES-PAVs qualified to work under voltage, i.e. so-called PEIs."

We remain at your disposal, good work.

We have received several reports concerning an additional professional figure authorised to secure hybrid and/or electric cars, the PEI [...].

[26
