{"id":4434,"date":"2017-11-14T15:05:36","date_gmt":"2017-11-14T14:05:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.checkstar-techblog.it\/?p=4434"},"modified":"2024-01-12T15:41:37","modified_gmt":"2024-01-12T14:41:37","slug":"alpha-romeo-julia-emergency-start","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.checkstar-techblog.it\/en\/alpha-romeo-julia-emergency-start\/","title":{"rendered":"Alfa Romeo Giulia: emergency start"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4479 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.checkstar-techblog.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/952016330_1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"488\" height=\"235\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.checkstar-techblog.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/952016330_1.jpg 488w, https:\/\/www.checkstar-techblog.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/952016330_1-300x144.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 488px) 100vw, 488px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"contents_testonormale\">Below we show you some particularities to be aware of, in case an emergency start is required on an Alfa Romeo Giulia (a car that is also the subject of the course currently being delivered in the MM Checkstar training rooms).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"contents_testonormale\">To make it easier to connect the emergency cables, a 'false-pole' connection system has been adopted for the Alfa Romeo Giulia, which is located in the engine compartment, while the battery is physically located in the luggage compartment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"contents_testonormale\">In the event of a discharged battery, it will be possible to make an emergency start by using the battery of another vehicle or by using an auxiliary battery; in all cases the battery used must have the same or slightly higher capacity than the discharged one.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Alfa Romeo Giulia: standard models<\/h2>\n<p>Connect the positive (+) terminal of the auxiliary battery to the false positive terminal, located under the windshield display (see figure below), working as indicated:<\/p>\n<p>1. Remove cover plate A, marked (+).<br \/>\n2. Lift the protective flap B so that the false positive pole C can be accessed.<br \/>\n3. Connect the clamp of the positive cable to the auxiliary battery (D) to the false pole C.<br \/>\n4. Finally, connect the negative terminal of the auxiliary battery to the false negative terminal, located on the headlamp crossmember, next to the engine bonnet lock.<br \/>\n5. Finally, connect the negative terminal of the auxiliary battery to negative pole 2, located on the headlamp crossmember, next to the right-hand engine bonnet lock.<\/div>\n<div class=\"content_area_extended\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"content_area_extended\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"content_area_extended\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4439 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.checkstar-techblog.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/952016418_1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.checkstar-techblog.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/952016418_1.jpg 488w, https:\/\/www.checkstar-techblog.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/952016418_1-218x300.jpg 218w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"content_area_extended\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"content_area_extended\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"content_area_extended\"><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"content_area_extended\">Direct connection to battery poles<\/h2>\n<div class=\"content_area_extended\">In cases where direct connection to the battery poles is necessary (e.g. checking battery charge status, connecting an additional battery for reprogramming operations of control units or infotainment devices, etc.), it will be necessary to comply with certain prescriptions, which are described below.<\/div>\n<div class=\"content_area_extended\">As mentioned, the battery is located on the right-hand side of the luggage compartment. Turn the cap (2) to the left of the lock and pull out the lanyard connected to it<br \/>\n2. Close the bonnet, taking care that the free end of the lanyard remains outside the luggage compartment.<br \/>\n3. In this condition it will be possible to open the bonnet manually, by pulling the lanyard to the left and acting on the lever (1) which locks the lock.<br \/>\n4.
