In the case of Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Lancia FCA vehicles, it may happen that the Start & Stop function is no longer available during a battery change or simply after a battery disconnection:<\/p>\n
In these models, a sensor called IBS (present on the battery) is installed, which requires RECALIBRATION after connection.<\/p>\n
During this phase, the battery type and battery states are learnt from the IBS sensor, i.e. the state of charge, efficiency and voltage.<\/p>\n
For this reason, the Start & Stop system is NOT available during this phase, so the engine does NOT switch off and restart as normal.\u00a0<\/p>\n
After a period of time ranging from 4 to 8 hours and in some cases up to about 12 \/24 hours, the Start & Stop system is available.<\/p>\n
Please note: sometimes after a 4 to 8 hour stop with the engine off followed by a 5-start cycle the system reactivates<\/p>\n
