Axle shafts are used to connect the final drive ratio to the front wheels

- four-wheel drive (4WD)
The four-wheel drive configuration uses a dual-range torque divider (PTU) and a dual-range rear-wheel drive module (RDM). The dual-range offers four-wheel drive high and four-wheel drive low. Both the PTU and RDM must be in the same condition to avoid binding conditions. Some applications use an RDM with the differential lock.

- all-wheel drive (AWD)
The all-wheel drive configuration employs the single-range torque divider (PTU) to provide a power flow equally divided between the front and rear.
