With this blog we report a defect that happened to many cars of the German brand produced between 2009-2011: Porsche Boxster, Boxster S, Cayman, Cayman S, 911 Carrera, 911 Carrera S and 911 Turbo.<\/p>\n
Due to an incorrect oil level measurement by the on-board electronics, many workshops replaced the oil level sensor. The parent company carried out checks on the replaced sensors and ascertained that these had no particular faults and that the replacement was therefore not justified.<\/p>\n
The problem lies in the fact that after filling the engine with oil, the oil level must be measured with the on-board computer. If you do not give the on-board computer time to perform the check, the check to confirm that the oil has been filled will not be carried out and the warning message 'Checking oil level' will still be displayed.<\/p>\n
In addition, the warning message 'Check oil level' also comes on when the oil level has not been checked after a long period of time (which varies depending on the vehicle and its use: the instrument cluster calculates oil degradation based on certain parameters, such as driving style, average distance driven, number of cold starts, etc.).<\/p>\n
